The Ghana Police Service has interdicted one of its personnel deployed to the Ablekuma North constituency for assaulting a GHOne TV journalist.
The incident, captured on video, occurred at the North Odorkor Polling Station 2, where the officer asked the journalist to move beyond the inner perimeter and allegedly became aggressive.
The Ghana Police Service has acknowledged a viral video showing one of its officers assaulting a reporter, according to a statement signed by ASP Richmond Mensah, for the Director of Public Affairs.
“The officer concerned has been withdrawn from the ongoing election duty at Ablekuma North; and in line with internal disciplinary procedures, he has been interdicted and referred to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) or investigation.”
The police assured the public of conducting a thorough investigation into the incident and promised to update the public on any developments.
