A Political Scientist, Professor Samuel Adu Gyamfi, believes that the National Executives of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be happy if Nana Akua Afriyie lose Ablekuma North parliamentary election re-run.

His assertion follows the party’s earlier decision not to participate in the re-run.

According to him, the decision in a way has affected their chances.

He said if she loses it will help the National Executives of the party to support their claim of not contesting.

He said the posture of the NPP National Executives is a desperate attempt to avoid defeat in the election.

Prof Adu Gyamfi accused the party of desperately trying to avoid another electoral loss in the Ablekuma North Constituency.

“The NPP is struggling to avoid another defeat “, he said.

Speaking on Ghanakoma morning show on Akoma 87.9FM in Kumasi with Sir John on July,11,2025, Professor Adu Gyamfi, attributed the party’s defeat in 2024 general elections to its weakened internal structure and lack of cohesion.

He touched on disillusionment among party members as a critical factor in the NPP’s struggles.

The political scientist also criticised the perceived disconnect between party leaders and the grassroots.

“Grassroots members are not happy about the current happenings in the party. This has serious repercussions for the party in future elections “, he said.
