In the wake of a devastating helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region, the North East Regional Coordinating Council (NERCC) has expressed profound sorrow over the loss of eight distinguished individuals, including Ministers of State, along with dedicated members of the Ghana Air Force.

The NERCC released a statement acknowledging the immense tragedy and the deep impact it has had on the nation.

The helicopter accident, which occurred on Wednesday August 6, has pushed the country into mourning, leaving families, friends, and communities shattered by the sudden loss. The NERCC emphasized that this heart-wrenching event is not only a significant loss for the Government of Ghana but also a moment of profound national grief, resonating across the entire country.

Ibrahim Tia, the Regional Minister, signed the press release on behalf of the North East Regional Coordinating Council, extending deepest condolences to the families who have lost loved ones and to all those affected by this painful tragedy. The council, representing the Chiefs and People of the North East Region, conveyed its shared grief and unwavering support to the nation during this exceptionally difficult period.

The NERCC’s statement further “expressed hope that the souls of those who perished in the line of duty find eternal peace, and that their families receive strength, comfort, and healing in the days ahead.”

The Council concluded its message with a call for national unity, urging Ghanaians to come together as one people and emerge from this sorrow stronger and more united than ever before. The North East Region stands in solidarity with the rest of the nation as the country grapples with this profound loss.
