Operators of the Bagre Dam and Kompienga dam in Burkina Faso, SONABEL in a transmission to the Upper East Regional NADMO office has announced the start of the annual spillage of the Bagre Dam downstream through the white and the black Voltas in Ghana.
The water level at Bagre Dam is currently at 233.99 with a filling rate of 86.38% while Kompienga dam is at 177.66 meters.
The spilled water is expected to hit the White and black Voltas within 48 hours after spillage and farmlands and properties along the banks of the rivers are expected to be affected by floods.
