Legal practitioner Martin Luther Kpebu has commended the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Franklin Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, for making public his intelligence on the deals some party members are trying to cut with persons on the government’s prosecution list.

Kpebu says the revelations are a great boost for the government’s reset agenda, particularly its ‘Operation Recover All Loot’ (ORAL) initiative.

According to him, the public’s reaction following the revelation is enough to remind the ruling party that Ghanaians are concerned and watching.

During an interview on Ghana Tonight on TV3 on Monday, September 8, 2025, he said the noise coming from the citizenry serves as a stark reminder that the public is watching.

“The noise, even when it’s accusing people wrongly, puts all of us on our toes,” he stated.

He added that the development also “reminds us that citizens are expectant and angry,” further noting that the citizens’ reactions alone provide a sense of responsibility for duty bearers regarding what to do, particularly in relation to recovering what was looted from the state by previous government appointees.

“And the third one, the duty bearers—the Attorney-General, OSP, EOCO, Police, CID—will take a cue, so I believe it will help. It means we’re reminding ourselves that it’s Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL). We’re reminding ourselves that it’s a reset agenda, so it’s good. From time to time, we always need reminders,” he indicated.

His comments stem from Mr. Kwetey’s revelation about deals some party members are cutting with persons set to be prosecuted by the government.

Speaking at the 5th Annual General Conference of NDC lawyers, he noted that the government was not going to yield to such attempts, although he didn’t mention any names.

“Many among us despite the fact that pleas and pressure are coming that punishment has to be meted and this must be done properly some among us are busy trying to cut deals with people who are supposed to be prosecuted,” he said.

He indicated, “some are becoming conduit through whom pressure is being brought to bear on people who are supposed to what is right. I may not mention names but a time will come when we may have to.”

This comes on the back of the party’s resolve to recover proceeds of corruption through the Operation Recover All Loots and prosecute persons found culpable.

Already, some officials of the previous government are being investigated for alleged corrupt practices.

According to the General Secretary, the electoral success of the party was hinged on the quest of the electorate to get the right things done.

Mr. Kwetey believes development has stifled in the country due to dishonesty on the part of people put in positions.

He said, “the people want what is right and what is right needs to be done.”

The NDC General Secretary further called on the Attorney-General’s office to stay resolute in the fight against corruption.

“Attorney General, please continue to be strong, continue to be firm, you and your team. If you succumb, the problem will be you,” he added.

He observed that persons who will stand in to cut deals for persons culpable will turn around to blame the office for inefficiency.
