The Municipal Chief Executive for Wassa Amenfi East, Raymond Nana Ebbah, has denied allegations of unleashing thugs on Member of Parliament Nicholas Amankwah and some constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The alleged incident occurred on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, and involved a violent clash that left one person severely injured, with reports indicating the secretary was butchered with a machete.

The controversy stems from disagreements over the appointment of a District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) Coordinator for the area.

According to the NDC, the MCE had arranged for thugs to assault the coordinator and the delegation that accompanied him, including the MP, when they visited the Assembly.

The party has condemned the attack, describing it as “barbaric” and an “affront to democracy”.

The executives have demanded the immediate suspension of the MCE pending investigations and called on the Western Regional Police Command and national security agencies to arrest and prosecute all perpetrators.

Speaking on a telephone conversation with 3news.com, Raymond Nana Ebbah has vehemently denied allegations of involvement in the incident, stating he had nothing to do with it.

He has pledged his full cooperation with security services, offering to assist in any investigation.
