Three vehicles were engulfed in flames following a head-on collision at Atafoa in the city of Kumasi, Tuesday morning, September 16, 2025.

The vehicles involved in the accident were a Sprinter bus with registration number CR 1466-22, a taxi registered as AS 5533-19 and a Lancer whose registration number is GT 8233.

The Lancer, carrying a lady and two children heading to church at Barekese, collided head-on with the taxi at high speed and then hit the Sprinter.

The incident happened at 6:40 on Tuesday morning. The Lancer caught fire and burned to ashes.

The lady in the Lancer was rushed to county hospital at Abrepo near Kumasi Girls’ Senior High school.

An eyewitness, Uncle Atta, said a team from Ghana National Fire Service and Police arrived swiftly and managed to contain the blaze within 45 minutes.

Though the front sections of both the taxi and splinter were extensively damaged, the timely intervention prevented the fire from spreading to nearby properties and equipment. No fatalities were reported.
