The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krachi East, Safo Ketia, has acknowledged that, the municipality continues to face significant challenges with water supply.

The MCE made these comments when he led officials of the Municipal Assembly to appear before the Local Government and Rural Development Committee, which is currently probing audit reports of  MMDA’s across the country.

During the hearing, Mr. Ketia detailed the steps his office is taking to address the crisis.

He stated that funds have been allocated to desilt gutters and that the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) is being supported to educate communities along the river about sanitation issues.

To further alleviate the water shortage, Mr. Ketia informed the committee that Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has promised to initiate the construction of 25 boreholes in the area.

In response, the committee’s chairperson, Queenstar Pokuah Sawyerr, directed the MCE to prioritize the completion of all unfinished projects in the municipality.
