A violent demonstration by some youth at Kukurantumi in the Eastern region has led to the injuring of two police officers. This was due to the death of a suspect who had died in custody, where the youth went to demand answers.

The injured officers have since been treated and discharged by health professionals at the Community Hospital at Kukurantumi.

Following the violent crash between the youth and the police, personnel from the Eastern Regional Police Command Counter Terrorism Unit were deployed to provide reinforcement for their colleagues from the Akyem Tafo police division where they were met with hostility from the angry youth who pelted stones at them.

A Toyota Tundra with registration number GP 4004 together with the official Toyota Hilux vehicle of the Eastern Regional Police Operations Commander were all had their windshields destroyed by the irate youth.

Two officers who were hit in the eyes were rushed to the Community Hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

An angry youth who spoke to Citi News on condition of anonymity narrating the unfortunate cycle of events said the youth acted in their quest to demand justice
