Ghana’s credentials as a hub of strong technical and professional training have been further reinforced with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Training Centre receiving official authorisation from the Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) as an Authorised Training Provider (ATP).
This milestone cements the Centre’s reputation as a leader in electrical and technical training while expanding its mandate to deliver internationally accredited safety programmes and courses.
Widely recognised across Africa as a Centre of Excellence, the ECG Training Centre has for decades been the backbone of capacity-building in the country’s energy sector.
Established to provide technical and managerial training for ECG staff, the Centre has since broadened its scope to train engineers, technicians, electricians, artisans, utility workers, and private sector professionals from across the region. Its curriculum spans electrical safety, power distribution, customer service, and modern energy management systems, making it a critical hub for developing skilled manpower in the energy industry.
The OSHA authorisation is a formal recognition of the Centre’s longstanding commitment to excellence. By joining OSHA’s global network of approved providers, the ECG Training Centre is now positioned to deliver internationally benchmarked training led by qualified experts, supported by robust quality systems, ethical practices, and state-of-the-art learning facilities.
This means professionals in the country and neighbouring countries can now access globally recognised safety certification locally, at affordable costs, without compromising on quality.
“This endorsement reflects the standards we’ve consistently upheld,” said Ing. Godfred Mensah, Director of the ECG Training Centre said in a statement copied to ConnectFM.
“It’s a validation of our mission to equip professionals with the knowledge and skills to create safer workplaces across Ghana and beyond.”
Mr. Benjamin Quarcoo, official in charge of the Centre’s communications efforts, told ConnectNews the authorisation not only validates “our training standards” but also enhances the country’s reputation as a regional hub for technical and vocational education.

“The recognition aligns with the country’s broader vision of building a highly skilled workforce capable of meeting the evolving demands of the global energy and safety landscape.”
OSHA, a globally respected awarding body, is dedicated to improving workplace safety and certifying professionals through its approved centres worldwide. The ATP status granted to the ECG Training Centre aligns seamlessly with OSHA’s mission to promote best practices, enhance professional competence, and support lifelong learning.
“As Ghana continues to position itself as a leader in energy and technical expertise, the ECG Training Centre’s new status stands as a testament to the nation’s enduring commitment to quality education, skills development, and sustainable growth”, Ing. Godfred Mensah added
“This achievement not only strengthens the Centre’s role as a driver of technical excellence but also underscores Ghana’s place on the global map as a trusted source of professional training and certification.”
