Director General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Dr. George Atta Boateng has said his outfit is actively monitoring social media platforms to track and pursue individuals who deliberately circulate misinformation with the intent to disrupt public order.

He warned that legal action will be taken against those found culpable, urging the public to verify information before sharing it online.

Dr. Atta Boateng made the statement at the opening of a new Signals Bureau facility in Koforidua on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

The new facility is aimed at boosting the agency’s capacity to respond to security threats as part of broader national efforts to safeguard public safety and maintain stability.

“I must also say that those who hide behind TikTok and Facebook to spread misinformation and disinformation to incite violence, anarchy and chaos, we will come after you no matter where you are. Initially, it used to take us 24 hours, now it is coming down to 12 hours. No matter where you are, we will find you,” he stated.

The National Security Coordinator, COP Osman Abdul Razak has revealed that over 10,000 CCTV cameras have been installed across the country to enhance surveillance, monitor public spaces and support crime prevention efforts.

He said the move is part of a national security strategy to improve response times and ensure safer environments.

“The NSB has growing network of cell towers across the country and has installed over 10,000 CCTV cameras nationwide and we intend to expand this surveillance and deter crimes,” he stressed.
