Prophet Elisha Joshua, a pastor and independent parliamentary candidate for Evalue Gwira in the 2024 elections, has confirmed that the replacement statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is ready.
He said the statue will soon be reinstalled at the Effiankwanta Regional Hospital Roundabout in Sekondi.
The original statue, which was mounted in appreciation of President Akufo-Addo’s contributions to the development of the Western Region, was mysteriously dismantled by unknown persons shortly after the 2024 general elections.
Prophet Joshua, who had earlier vowed to restore the statue, insists such acts of political intolerance must not be entertained.
He argued that dismantling statues based on political differences could set a dangerous precedent.
“Such acts must not be encouraged since it has the tendency of affecting other presidents who may lead the country in the near future. Some residents may also rise up one day and destroy whatever President Mahama will also build.” He indicated.

Speaking in an interview with Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson on Connect FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show, Prophet Joshua confirmed that preparations for the reinstallation are advanced.

“The main reason why the statue was dismantled was because they claim the road was not completed. Now, the road has been completed, and the statue can now be erected without any challenges of opposition from anyone,” he stated.
He added that formal approval will be sought from authorities in the region before the installation.
“The roundabout and pillar where the statue was erected is still available. The new statue has been molded, the road is also now completed. I want to schedule a meeting with the leaders of the region, have their consent and erect it back at the place,” he added.
The timeline for the reinstallation is yet to be disclosed, but Prophet Joshua maintains the public will soon see Akufo-Addo’s statue restored at its previous location.
