The Government of Ghana has announced plans to establish special courts to expedite the handling of cases arising from audit infractions identified in the Auditor-General’s Report.
This decision was reached following a high-level meeting on Monday, October 20, 2025, between the President John Dramani Mahama, the Chief Justice, the Attorney-General, and the Auditor-General.
The meeting focused on measures to strengthen the enforcement of findings contained in the Auditor-General’s Report.
According to a statement issued by the Minister for Government Communications and Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the special courts will be tasked with adjudicating cases related to financial irregularities uncovered during audits. This includes enforcing surcharges, disallowances, and prosecuting related criminal offences.
Mr. Ofosu noted that the initiative forms part of the government’s broader agenda to promote transparency, enhance accountability, and deter the misuse of public funds. It also aims to ensure the prompt recovery of monies owed to the state.
