Embattled Kade chief, Osabarima Agyare Tenadu, has abdicated the stool amidst dispute, ahead of a court ruling.

The stool has been at the center of a long-standing dispute between the chief and some kingmakers, a situation that has persisted for over a decade.

The embattled chief on Wednesday, during a meeting with some members of the royal family at the Kade Palace declared his decision to vacate the stool.

Osabarima Tenadu said he is unable to continue with the prolonged dispute that has shrouded the stool.

“Kade Aduana, I tell you, that today is 22nd October, it’s been 21 and half years since I was enstooled as chief for Kade. I have this sheep and schnapps, when I finish my pronouncement, pour libation and slaughter the sheep. From today I am still an Aduana, whenever you need help or see me, call me and request for any assistance. But I have abdicated the Kade stool, I am no more the Kade chief,” he declared.

Meanwhile, a rival faction involved in the chieftaincy dispute is reportedly in the process of installing a new chief, an issue currently before the courts.

The final outcome is expected to be determined by the court, the National House of Chiefs, the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, and the Abuakwa Traditional Council, which are all expected to weigh in on the matter.

It remains unclear whether the stool will stay vacant or the one identified by the rival faction will be formally confirmed and officially enstooled.

Pockets of chieftaincy disputes continue to deprive many communities in the Eastern Region of peace and development, while stretching security resources and affecting national cohesion.
