As part of efforts to curb breast cancer among women, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has organized a one-day free health screening and public education exercise, aimed at promoting early detection and treatment of the disease.

The event brought together women from various communities, who received screening services and learned about the importance of regular health checks and self-examination.

Addressing the media, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Efua Houajeto, emphasized that routine medical checkups play a crucial role in the early detection and prevention of breast cancer.

“Regular visits to the hospital for checkups will help detect any abnormalities early, allowing for prompt action and increasing the chances of successful treatment,” the CEO said.

One of the highlights of the event was a touching testimony from Comfort Owusu, a breast cancer survivor and former staff member of the Ghana Tourism Authority.

“I encourage every woman to be courageous and visit the clinic immediately if they notice any changes or signs in their breasts,” Ms. Owusu advised, sharing her personal journey of survival and hope.

The initiative forms part of GTA’s broader corporate social responsibility drive, demonstrating the Authority’s commitment not only to tourism development but also to the well-being of Ghanaians.
