The Member of Parliament for Builsa South and Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has donated teaching and learning materials worth GHC70,745 to eight kindergarten schools across his constituency to improve early childhood education.

The donation includes furniture, phonics books, wall charts, talking mats, crayons, markers, A4 paper, curriculum guides, footballs, and various teaching aids such as toy boxes, counters, shape sets, storybooks, and numeracy kits.

The initiative aims to create a more engaging learning environment for young pupils and strengthen the foundation for lifelong learning.

Beneficiary schools include Suik KG, Yiniengsa KG, Doning KG, Tuedema KG, Batuisa KG, Kasiesa Yipaala KG, Bachiesa KG, and Zuagsa KG. Each school received materials based on enrollment and infrastructural needs.

Speaking on behalf of the MP during the presentation, Mr. Caesar Akinkang, the Builsa South Constituency Chairman, emphasized the importance of strong foundations in education.

“Quality education begins at the kindergarten level. By equipping our KG classrooms with the right tools, we are laying the groundwork for lifelong learning,” he said.

Mr. Akinkang added that Dr. Apaak’s consistent investment in education reflects his commitment to closing learning gaps in rural communities.

“By supporting early childhood education, we are not only empowering teachers but also giving our children the best possible start in life,” he noted.

The District Director of Education, Mr. Richard Atigisijam Akum-Nyemi, expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiary schools, describing the donation as “timely and impactful.”

“Many of our KG classrooms have long faced shortages in basic instructional materials and furniture. This intervention will significantly improve teaching and learning conditions for both pupils and educators,” he remarked.

Several headteachers also praised the initiative, calling for sustained support to further enhance education in the district.

The handover ceremony, held at Fumbisi Senior High School on Friday, brought together district officials, school heads, and representatives of the beneficiary schools — a testament to the collaborative efforts driving educational progress in Builsa South.

As the new academic year unfolds, Dr. Apaak’s initiative is expected to serve as a model for constituency-level investment in early childhood education across Ghana.
