Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson has vowed the full backing of his office for the upcoming Inter-Regional Schools Sports Festival.

In his address to the newly-formed 19-member planning committee, he charged them with ensuring the event’s seamless execution, urging members to commit to the highest standards of excellence.

After a multi-year hiatus since the 2019 edition in Bolgatanga, the Inter-Regional Schools Sports Festival is making a comeback.

 

The fifth edition will mark a historic first, as the Western Region prepares to host the games.

In preparation, Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson has inaugurated a 19-member planning committee drawn from various departmental heads across academia, health, and other fields.

He officially charged the committee with ensuring the event’s seamless and successful execution, tasking them to uphold the highest standards of excellence.

“Together as a team, we have the potential to achieve a level of success greater than any previous effort.

This is your primary charge. Judging from your diverse backgrounds and introductions, it is clear we have a solid team. I am confident that if you put your shoulders to the wheel, there is no reason this event cannot be a resounding success. I urge you all to give your very best, as the Western Region deserves to recognize your outstanding work.“ He charged them.

The Western Regional Physical Education and Sports Coordinator at Ghana Education Service, Anwulo Bondanyi Boniface, declared that the region is prepared to welcome the fifteen other regions for the games.

The nine-day event, set for November 17-24, 2025, will see sporting events spread across multiple locations.

According to the coordinator, football competitions will be hosted at four different centers, with the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) serving as the main venue for all other displays.

“The Western Region is fully prepared to host the rest of the nation for the upcoming national games. The event will run from November 15th to November 24th, 2025.

A diverse range of sports will be featured, including, Soccer: Matches will be held across four centers: Gyandu Park, Essikado Astroturf, Kansaworodo Astroturf, and Fijai School Park.

Athletics, along with Basketball, Table Tennis, Badminton, and Handball, will be hosted at the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS).

We are eager to welcome all participating regions and showcase our readiness for this prestigious event.” He mentioned.
