Some National Service Personnel are growing agitated over delayed postings and issues of document mismatch.

Although there have been several interventions by the National Service Authority (NSA), some personnel are yet to know their fate.

Despite weeks of interventions, from fresh registrations and regional validations to an emergency gazette service meant to resolve document errors, many graduates say they are still stuck in limbo.

They shared their frustration with 3news, “I submitted an assurance letter about a month and some weeks ago, and till date, it hasn’t reflected on the portal. It is actually not giving me any hope that I may be reposted.”

For others, the new system is the challenge. “I wish it was like the old system because I have a friend who has done NSS and the old system was such that if you have issues, they created a different portal for them to be able to register which made it simple.”

Fruitless follow ups have also made some frustrated “we have been coming here for follow-ups, and all that they tell us is we should wait.”

The Director-General of the National Service Authority, Ruth Dela Seddoh, attributed the delays to a new system being rolled out to eliminate ghost names.

“151,000 potential personnel applied but unfortunately because of the system we put in place to ensure that ghost names are a thing of the past but so far we have been able to authenticate 94,000 personnel who we have already deployed and some of them have started working. The process is still ongoing,” Mrs Seddoh said.

She assured the personnel that the Authority is working to ensure that all of them are posted.

She said, “Let me use your platform to assure every potential personnel that they will be posted. We want to be strategic with how we post these people. There are some of them with peculiar experience and academic path, and we want to liaise with the appropriate agencies so that we don’t throw talent away.”

On the military training for service personnel, the Director-General said more people have applied than anticipated.

“Even with the military training we have already had over 12,000 personnel choosing it and I am happy we’ve had more than the expected number and I can assure you that the President is so keen on it and expectant that we will get it done and he is ready to come on board,” She noted.
