The Ghana Water Ltd. (GWL) in the Eastern Region has launched a campaign to recover outstanding water bills from long‑term defaulters.
Customer arrears have reached about GHC32 million.
The Water Company says this was hampering operations and service delivery.
Already in the first phase, 15 customers have been processed and will appear in court.
The Ghana Water Limited’s legal team warns that more names will be added as the effort continues.
“The action targets customers who have ignored multiple payment notices, are in long‑term arrears, have had their water service disconnected but still refuse to pay, Use alternative sources (boreholes, wells) instead of settling their bills,” he explained.
The Regional Chief Manager, Ing. Paul C. Akpanya, said: “We will go the extra mile within the remit of the law to recover every arrears owed the company. This is essential for sustaining our operations and improving service delivery to the public.”
The first batch of court filings includes a mix of businesses and individuals totaling 14.
Ghana Water Limited emphasizes that recovering these funds is crucial for maintaining and improving water supply across the region.
Customers in arrears are advised to visit the nearest District Office or use any of our electronic payment methods to make payment.
