Think tank Election Watch Ghana has urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to be diligent and transparent in avoiding reruns.

The think tank has expressed worry over the incidence of election reruns is becoming one too many.

“These developments not only strain financial resources of taxpayers but also erode trust in the electoral process,” it said in a statement issued on Thursday, December 11.

“The impartiality of electoral officers, who are expected to remain neutral facilitators, is critical to ensuring free, fair and credible elections.”

This comes after the Electoral Commission on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, announced Tuesday, December 30 as date for the rerun in Kpandai in compliance to a High Court order.

“We urge the EC to enhance transparency and accountability in the management of elections and address the operational inefficiencies that have evidently contributed to these costly and avoidable reruns.”

Election Watch Ghana urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to. actively involve in the rerun to ensure a thriving democracy.
