In a coordinated evening operation on December 19, 2025, personnel from the Kintampo District Police Command conducted a tactical “swoop” targeting known criminal hideouts within the municipality.

The exercise resulted in the arrest of 11 suspects and the seizure of a significant quantity of narcotics and related contraband.

​The swoop commenced at approximately 21:00 hours, focusing on the farming communities of Babator and Kawampe. According to police reports, officers intercepted a group of young men and women openly smoking and distributing substances suspected to be cannabis.

​Upon realizing the police presence, the group attempted to flee on foot, leading to a brief pursuit. Officers successfully apprehended 11 individuals, ranging in age from 16 to 39, with diverse backgrounds including farming, trade, and mechanics.

The following individuals were detained during the operation:
• ​Issahaka Amadu (25), Afia Sumaila (32), Yaw Johnson (20), and Dankwa David (30) – Traders
• ​Kofi Vandam (24) and Yambon Cornelius (25) – Farmers
• ​Issahaku Abdul-Basit (39) – Driver
• ​Mubarick Manteiso (36) – Labourer
• ​Jagri Seth (22) – Motor Mechanic
• ​Hamza Wedrago (24) – Scrap Dealer
• ​Abdul-Hakim Sumaila (16) – Unemployed

During a search of the scene, police recovered a variety of illicit substances and paraphernalia concealed in polythene bags.

All 11 suspects are currently in police custody undergoing screening and interrogation. The recovered exhibits have been retained to serve as evidence for future prosecution.

The Kintampo District Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to flushing out criminal elements to ensure the safety of the municipality.
