The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, together with directors of agencies under her ministry, have engaged members of Women in Media, Ghana, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and promote inclusive national development.
The meeting, held on December 22, focused on key challenges affecting the gender, children and social protection sector, while highlighting ongoing government initiatives aimed at protecting vulnerable groups, promoting gender equality and enhancing social welfare services.
Discussions also explored opportunities for strategic partnerships with the media to increase public awareness and advocacy on critical social issues.
Directors of the various agencies under the Ministry took turns to present overviews of their mandates, outlining achievements made so far as well as operational gaps, including resource constraints and the need for stronger public engagement.
The engagement underscored the important role of the media, particularly women journalists, in shaping public discourse, influencing policy support and amplifying social protection interventions across the country.
‘’I am grateful that you made the time to be present at today’s engagement. I am hopeful that it will deepen the collaborative effort between the Ministry and you, our partners in the media. Our mouthpiece. Let’s deliberate on how we can work better together.”
The engagement was interactive offering the women in media an opportunity to engage with directors of the various agencies and seek clarity on issues bothering on their works.
