A 23-year-old man, Innocent Owusu, has been arrested by the Jasikan District Police Command for the alleged killing of his father, Peter Owusu, aged 59, at Likpe Abrani in the Oti Region.

Police say the incident occurred at their family residence on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. The suspect fled the scene after committing the crime, according to investigations.

A statement issued by the police and signed by the Director of Public Affairs Unit for Oti Region, DSP John Nchor, says the suspect was later apprehended at his hideout in a forest near Abrani, based on intelligence gathered by the Police.

The Police said the decapitated body and head of the deceased have since been recovered and deposited at the Hohoe Government Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

Owusu is currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations, and is expected to be arraigned in accordance with the law.

The Oti Regional Police Command commended residents of Likpe Abrani for their swift cooperation and assistance, which contributed to the successful arrest of the suspect.

The Command also extended the condolences of the Police Administration to the bereaved family during this period of grief.
