The former Wa Central Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper West Region, Ali Karim Kamara, has declared his fullest support for former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

The ex-NPP Chairman, who has been touring and engaging with party delegates, said his decision to campaign for Dr Bawumia is rooted in loyalty, conviction, and personal history, insisting that he cannot support any other candidate within the party aside from Bawumia.

According to him, his relationship with Dr Bawumia dates back to the era of the late former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama. Revealing that Alhaji Aliu Mahama personally introduced him to Dr Bawumia, describing the encounter as one that forged a strong bond between them.

“The late Alhaji Aliu Mahama called me and said he was bringing Ali Kamara to Bawumia, and Dr Bawumia accepted me like a brother,” he recounted.

Adding that “From that day, I have known his character, his humility, and his dedication to Ghana. That is why I believe he is the best man for the job.”

Kamara has been engaging party delegates across various constituencies, urging them to remain united and focused ahead of the party’s future leadership decisions.

He cautioned delegates against internal divisions and attacks, particularly those aimed at Dr Bawumia, warning that such actions could weaken the party.

“I have told delegates not to use any appointee’s cane to whip Dr Bawumia. We must not allow internal influences or personal interests to divide us. Dr Bawumia has served this party and this country diligently, and he deserves respect.” He strongly stated.

The erstwhile Chairman emphasised that the NPP’s strength lies in unity and discipline, adding that personal vendettas and factionalism could undermine the party’s chances in future elections.

The soft-spoken former chairman called on party faithful to rally behind experienced leadership and to protect the party’s values, stressing that Dr Bawumia remains a credible and capable leader for the NPP.
