Former President Willliam Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has lauded the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Election Committee for adhering to the principles of democracy in carrying out its duties.
He says the Committee has been impressive and transparent with its work so far, pending the Saturday, January 31, 2026 exercise.
Akufo-Addo in a statement issued on Friday, January 9, 2026, following a courtesy call on him by the Committee, where he praised the members’ role for how they’ve rolled out the processes for the internal election.
The Committee’s work, Akufo-Addo noted, has been marked by clarity, openness, and strict adherence to the principles that define a true democracy, saying that the process so far has reinforced confidence in the election’s credibility.
He said the tenet of transparency insisted by the Committee has so far set the process apart, safeguarding its sanctity and ensuring fairness and trust among stakeholders.
“The Committee’s work, thus far, has been nothing short of impressive. Key milestones achieved on the principles of zero-tolerance for opacity have ensured transparency and guarded religiously the sanctity of the process” he said.
Former First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei-Owusu, chairs the NPP’s Presidential Election Committee. He has been applauded for ensuring inclusiveness, compliance with the party’s regulations and fairness throughout the process.
