The Foundation of Concerned Arts Professionals (FOCAP) has given the government a scorecard of zero percent in its one-year assessment of President Mahama’s administration of the creative arts sector.
According to the advocacy group’s Vice President in charge of Research, Enoch Agyepong, the review, which strictly focused on the promises made to the creative arts sector in the government’s manifesto, arrived at that conclusion because the government failed to fulfil even one of the promises in it’s first year.
“In a nutshell, what we are saying is that after we assessed the government for one year based on the manifesto we relied on to vote for them, they have not fulfilled even a single promise”, he said.
Speaking about the review on Onua Showbiz with Nana Kwame Gyan last Saturday, Mr. Agyepong cited several unfulfilled commitments just under the government’s flagship Black Star Experience programme.
“Under Black Star experience alone, which is their flagship program for the Creative Arts sector, they promised a Pan- African month, celebrating heritage, history and diaspora engagement which didn’t happen. They promised a Ghana film festival and awards month which also didn’t happen. Ghana Music World and Culinary month which were all in the manifesto did not happen”, he added.
FOCAP’S one year review of the President’s administration of the Creative Arts sector took place on Friday, January 9 at Nick hotel in Tema.
