After several days of power interruptions in Sunyani and neighboring communities, the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) has successfully resolved a fault at its substation in Sunyani and restored power supply.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when an issue was detected in Transformer Two, a crucial unit with a capacity of 33 megavolt ampere located in the Sunyani switch yard. This fault resulted in widespread outages, significantly affecting local businesses that depend on uninterrupted electricity.
Ing. Eugene Odoi Addo, the Sunyani Area Manager of NEDCo, spoke to 3news about the situation. He explained that a team of engineers from GRIDCo, based in Techiman and Kumasi, collaborated to conduct further tests and worked for approximately 33 hours before resolving the issue and restoring power.

”I’m pleased to announce that the fault has been fixed and power supply has been restored in the municipality,” he stated.
Ing. Odoi Addo also urged customers to be patient during power outages, emphasizing that they are not intentional and are often due to ongoing maintenance and repairs with equipment.
