After several days of power interruptions in Sunyani and neighboring communities, the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) has successfully resolved a fault at its substation in Sunyani and restored power supply.

‎The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when an issue was detected in Transformer Two, a crucial unit with a capacity of 33 megavolt ampere located in the Sunyani switch yard. This fault resulted in widespread outages, significantly affecting local businesses that depend on uninterrupted electricity.

‎Ing. Eugene Odoi Addo, the Sunyani Area Manager of NEDCo, spoke to 3news about the situation. He explained that a team of engineers from GRIDCo, based in Techiman and Kumasi, collaborated to conduct further tests and worked for approximately 33 hours before resolving the issue and restoring power.

‎”I’m pleased to announce that the fault has been fixed and power supply has been restored in the municipality,” he stated.

‎Ing. Odoi Addo also urged customers to be patient during power outages, emphasizing that they are not intentional and are often due to ongoing maintenance and repairs with equipment.

‎“I urge our customers to be patient when power goes off. It is not our intention to cut the supply; we are always working to fix issues with our machines.” he stated.
