The President of the China Chamber of Commerce in Ghana, Tang Hong, has warned Chinese nationals living and working in Ghana to strictly abide by the country’s laws and desist from engaging in illegal activities, including illegal mining.

In a statement to address members of the Chinese community in Ghana during a New Year celebration, on Thursday, January 29,2026, Defa stressed that every Chinese citizen in Ghana represents China and must protect the country’s reputation through lawful and responsible conduct.

He emphasized that Ghanaian laws apply to everyone without exception and warned that any Chinese who violates the law will face the full consequences under Ghana’s legal system, without expecting special treatment or intervention from Chinese officials.

Tang Hong urged Chinese to avoid illegal activities, fraud, hate speech, and any conduct that could damage China’s image, while encouraging them to respect Ghana’s culture, customs, and traditions.

“Your conduct reflects China. Uphold integrity, engage positively with the Ghanaian people, promote mutual respect, do good deeds, stay safe, and thrive in Ghana,” he said.

He reaffirmed the Chinese Embassy’s commitment to supporting lawful conduct and cultural integration.

Turning to business and investment matters, Hong called on Chinese investors and their Ghanaian partners to build relationships based on trust, transparency, and mutual respect.

He acknowledged that Chinese investors often rely heavily on local partners to navigate Ghana’s regulatory and cultural environment, but noted that challenges sometimes arise when partnerships break down.

In such situations, he advised Chinese businesses to promptly inform the Chinese Embassy, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and relevant business associations to help coordinate solutions.

He also appealed to Ghanaian business partners to honor their commitments, stressing that honesty and open communication are essential for sustaining long-term partnerships.

“Partnerships should be about cooperation, not complications,” he said.

The President of Chinese Chamber revealed that Chinese investors have expressed strong appreciation for Ghana’s 2026 strategic development plan, citing the country’s stable political environment and growing investment opportunities.

He highlighted government initiatives in infrastructure development, smart cities, renewable energy, digital connectivity, and the 24-Hour Economy policy as key drivers attracting Chinese investment.

He concluded by calling for stronger China–Ghana cooperation to promote shared growth and sustainable development.
