The Ashanti Regional Chairman of New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Wontumi) has appealed to members to ensure peace, fairness, and discipline during the presidential primary on January 31,2026.

Speaking to journalists after voting at St Anne’s Anglican Church in Ash Town in Manhyia South Constituency, Mr Boasiako said the conduct of the primary would play a critical role in shaping the party’s future direction.

He emphasized that the actions of members, delegates, and officials on the day would either help rebuild the party or deepen existing divisions.

According to him, a transparent and well-organised process would demonstrate the party’s readiness to regroup and compete effectively in future elections.

“How the NPP conducts itself in today’s election, will have far-reaching implications for the fortunes and forward march of the party,” he said.

He added that credibility and calm during the exercise would help restore confidence both within the party and among the general public.

“If we can conduct a peaceful, fair, orderly, and decorous election, that will be a major step towards the revival of the NPP,” he said.

He was happy the election has been peaceful in all constituencies he has visited so far.

” It has been peaceful. I have gone round,” he said.

He commended the police and the party’s delegates on how they have operated peacefully.

Wontumi appealed to party supporters and stakeholders to put the collective interest of the NPP ahead of personal ambitions, observing that unity after the primary would be crucial for the party’s long-term recovery and electoral success.
