The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has said that Covid-19 pandemic made one thing clear: countries that cannot produce essential medicines are vulnerable.

He said this when he delivered a keynote address at the African Trade Summit on the theme: Health Security as Industrial Strategy: Manufacturing Medicines for Africa and the World.

The Juabosso lawmaker said that dependence comes at a cost to lives, to jobs, and to economic stability.

President Mahama’s Reset Agenda confronts this reality head-on, he said.

“His leadership is driving a deliberate shift toward local pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturing, backed by real investment and clear policy direction which are laying the foundation for true health sovereignty,” the Minister stated.

He further indicated that health industrialisation is how Africa can take care of its people, grow its economy, and finally take control of its own health future.
