The Government Statistician, Dr Alhassan Iddrisu, has announced that Economic activities expanded by 4.2% in November 2025.
He said this when announcing the Monthly Indicator of Economic Growth (MIEG): November 2025, on Thursday, February 12.
The MIEG index for November 2025 is 122.7. This compares to an index figure of 117.7 in November 2024. The yearly growth rate of the index is therefore 4.2 percent.
The index growth rate from month to month is not reported as the index is not seasonally adjusted.
The services sector was the main contributor to November 2025 growth. The sector contributed 57.7 percent to the overall growth of 4.2 percent in economic activities. Industry contributed 2.5
percent whiles agriculture contributed 32.4 percent.
“We also report MIEG figures for agriculture, industry, and services. Agriculture grew by 4.1 percent according to the MIEG. The industry sector expanded by 0.4 percent, and the services
sector by 6.7 percent,” he announced.
“Agriculture increased by 4.1 percent between November 2024 and November 2025. This was largely driven by an increase in crops and fishing activities in November 2025,” he added.
Dr Alhassan added “Industry recorded a MIEG of 0.4 percent in November 2025 as compared to 6.2 percent in November 2024. This is an indication of a contraction in mining and quarrying largely on the back of contraction in upstream petroleum activities, compared to the same period last year.”
