The Produce Buying Company (PBC) Ltd and the Ghana National Cocoa Farmers Association (GNACOFA) have commenced discussions on a landmark partnership designed to reinforce farmer welfare and build a resilient, sustainable cocoa sector.
This collaboration comes at a critical juncture when farmer livelihoods are under strain and the cocoa industry faces challenges of sustainability, financing, and global market volatility.
The initiative aligns with ongoing Cocoa Sector Reforms and the call by the Finance Minister for PBC to lead as Ghana’s number one Licensed Buying Company (LBC) in the internal marketing of cocoa.
The farmers pledge their collective support for the revival and strengthening of PBC, committing to partnership in advancing sector reforms.
On its part, Management of PBC reaffirmed its dedication to delivering input support programmes, certification and extension services, timely payment of bonuses, and championing farmers’ voices before policymakers and stakeholders.
This strategic alignment between farmers and PBC represents a new chapter in Ghana’s cocoa sector. The move aims to stabilise the sector against global shocks, improve farmer welfare and livelihoods and strengthen Ghana’s position in the global cocoa market.
