The Accra High Court has set March 23, 2026, to rule on Gifty Oware’s application to stay proceedings of her criminal trial.

This is pending the determination of an appeal at the Court of Appeal against the order that she files the names and addresses of witnesses during the case management conference.

Her lawyers argue that the Practice Direction which compels an accused person to file list of witnesses and their addresses is an attempt to whittle down the constitutional presumption of innocence of an accused person.

The former Deputy Director of the National Service Authority has been charged with multiple offenses including money laundering, stealing and using public office for profit in the matter regarding the ghost names scandal.

She has pleaded not guilty and is on bail.
