The Ashanti Regional Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Isham Alhassan Bonsu, has justified the ongoing nationwide ‘Thank You Tour’ of the party’s National Chairman, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia.
He said it is responsibility of the National Chairman to appreciate party members and supporters for their role in the NDC’s 2024 electoral victory.
The National Chairman of ruling NDC is in Ashanti Region for his ‘Thank You Tour.’
He has visited Ejura, Mampong, Nsuta, Kwamang and others.
Speaking on Ghanakoma morning show on Akoma 87.9 FM in Kumasi with Sir John, on Wednesday, March 25,2026, to give insight about the tour, Mr Bonsu said the tour marks the second round of post-election engagements by the NDC Chairman since the party assumed office in January 2025.
It has, however, attracted criticism from sections of the public and political commentators, who argue that such tours are typically undertaken by a presidential candidate rather than the party chairman—particularly when the party is in power.
He dismissed the criticisms, insisting that the actions of the National Chairman align with the NDC’s long-standing tradition of gratitude and solidarity.
“Those who disagree with him can continue with that, and we will continue to honour our promise. That is why we are here,” he said.
“It also sits very well with our tradition that when you go and beg somebody to give you something, and you are given what you request, the next thing is to go and say thank you. That is why we have come to say thank you to everybody.”
He emphasised that the tour is not about political showmanship but a genuine expression of appreciation to the grassroots members, volunteers, and sympathizers who worked tirelessly to ensure the NDC’s return to power.
He urged the party members to remain united, diligent and loyal to the party, adding that future restructuring of the party should be guided by merit and commitment.
“When the time comes to renew our leadership structures, ensure that those who seek to undermine your good work are replaced with serious, dedicated people “, he said.
