The police in the Western North Region has arrested two persons with a white sprinter bus with 41 slabs of plant material suspected to be narcotic drugs (Indian hemp).
The arrest took place on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at about 1:00pm.
Inspr. Thomas Manu, in charge of four (4) personnel on barrier duty at the Bibiani Kwamekrom barrier, during a routine stop and search operation, intercepted a white Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus with registration number AW-674-20, driven by the suspects Kumah Abraham, aged 26 years, with Dawudu Apogre, aged 20 years, as the driver’s mate.
A search conducted on the vehicle led to the discovery of a blue, white, and orange striped “Ghana-must-go” bag concealed in the boot.
The bag contained twenty (20) double slabs and one (1) single slab, making a total of forty-one (41) compressed slabs of plant material suspected to be narcotic drugs (Indian hemp), all wrapped in yellow adhesive tape.
During interrogation, the driver, Kumah Abraham, admitted ownership of the consignment and stated that it was handed over to him by an unidentified person at Siekwa in the Bono Region, to be delivered to another unidentified person at Nyamebekyere in the
Western Region.
Suspect has however, provided contact numbers believed to belong to the alleged sender and intended receiver to assist investigations.
Both suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
Meanwhile the forty-one (41) compressed slabs and the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus (Reg. No. AW-674-20) have been retained as exhibits.
Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the alleged sender and intended recipient to establish their identities and level of involvement.
