The Member of Parliament for Aowin Constituency, Oscar Ofori Larbi, has pledged not to contest the 2028 parliamentary elections if the Enchi Mile 4 to Elluibo road project is not completed.
Speaking during a visit to the Aowin Traditional Council on April 5, 2026, the MP described the road as the most pressing challenge affecting communities in the area.
He noted that the deplorable condition of the stretch continues to hinder economic activities and limit access to essential services.
According to him, the road serves as a key international route linking Ghana to Côte d’Ivoire, making its completion critical for cross-border trade and movement.
He added that residents face severe difficulties transporting goods to market, while emergency cases referred to the Enchi Government Hospital often experience life-threatening delays due to the poor state of the road.
The MP recalled that the project was previously awarded under a past administration but was abandoned by the contractor.
He said the issue became a major campaign point during the 2024 general elections, with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) criticizing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the failed promise.
He disclosed that the project has now been re-awarded under the government’s “Big Push” infrastructure initiative, with work currently ongoing as the contractor has returned to site.
Reaffirming his commitment to the people, the MP stated that the project is expected to be completed within a two-year contractual period.
He stressed that failure to deliver the road before the 2028 elections would compel him to step down and not seek re-election.
