The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has announced that the Tamale High Court (Criminal Division) is expected to deliver judgment today in the long-running trial involving former officials of the Northern Development Authority (NDA) and others.
The OSP made the disclosure in a Facebook post on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
The case, The Republic v. Sumaila Abdul-Rahman & 3 Others has spanned nearly four years and involves four accused persons: Sumaila Abdul-Rahman
The accused are facing charges of corruption and related offences linked to procurement activities under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP).
During the trial, the accused persons filed a submission of no case, arguing that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against them.
However, the trial court dismissed the application, a decision that was subsequently upheld by the Court of Appeal in a unanimous ruling after the accused challenged it.
With the defence having closed its case and final submissions filed, the court scheduled today, April 23, 2026 for the delivery of judgment.
The outcome of the case is expected to bring closure to one of the high-profile corruption trials pursued by the OSP, with significant public interest in the final verdict.
