The Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, is looking forward to an address by the Minister of Sports and Recreation on what the Black Stars will be up to at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Effutu Member of Parliament (MP) expects Kofi Iddie Adams to brief the House on measures put in place to ensure that the team does well in North America next month.

Speaking on TV3‘s New Day on Tuesday, May 12, the Minority Leader admitted that the national team on any day has the potential of rubbing shoulders with the best in the world.

“When a Ghanaian team is properly composed and well motivated, they go beyond expectation,” he insisted.

He had earlier hinted at Mr Adams’ appearance on the floor of the House when lawmakers return on Tuesday, May 19.

“I’m looking forward to hear what the Minister of Sports has to say as Parliament resumes because definitely he needs to brief Parliament on the measures put in place to enable the team to do better.”

The Minority Leader shared memories of Ghana’s campaign in South Africa in 2010 and how the team got closer to reaching the semi-final but for a penalty miss by Asamoah Gyan.

Ghana will begin this year’s campaign in Toronto on Wednesday, June 17 against Panama before taking on England and Croatia later in Group L.
