TikTok content creator Priscilla Addai has shared an emotional account of her journey through childhood struggles, single motherhood and education during an appearance on TV3’s The Afternoon Show with Anita Akua Akuffo.

Speaking on the programme on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, Priscilla revealed that her difficult upbringing began after her parents separated, forcing her to grow up under the care of her aunt.

According to her, life was challenging from an early age as her aunt struggled financially while running a small food business at a school.

“My auntie sold food at a school but enrolled me in a different school, so I had to trek quite a distance to her school every day for food during break,” she recounted.

Priscilla said she initially believed joining her aunt’s school would make life easier, but things became more difficult when she had to assist with selling plantain during lesson hours.

“It actually started when I had to sell plantain for her, even during lesson hours,” she said.

Life worsened after the government introduced the free school feeding programme, which caused her aunt to lose her business. As a result, they were forced to sleep in a school canteen for nearly two years because they could not afford transport fare.

“It was God who saw us through those challenges,” she recalled.

Although her uncle later supported her through school, Priscilla said life remained difficult emotionally and financially.

“Because I didn’t get all the love and attention growing up, I thought I’d find it in a man,” she revealed.

At age 20, she met a man whom she said made her feel loved and supported. However, things changed after she gave birth.

“He made me feel loved and cared for and supported me until I gave birth — then he disappeared. The last time I called him, the number didn’t exist,” she disclosed.

Priscilla revealed that her child’s father left at a particularly difficult moment when rent was due, forcing her to distribute her belongings among friends while she temporarily stayed with her mother.

“He left when the rent was due. I distributed my belongings to my peers to keep until I got a place of my own,” she said.

Now raising her daughter alone, Priscilla says motherhood has become her greatest motivation.

“I sacrifice what I eat for my daughter,” she shared.

Despite the hardships, she is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Information Studies at the University of Ghana, where she also serves as a course representative.

According to her, support from fans who follow her online content has helped her pay her school fees.

“I pay my fees from funds that fans send me. It has been God. Help keeps coming, small, though it’s not big,” she said.

Priscilla admitted there are days when financial pressure overwhelms her emotionally.

“When I don’t have money, I stay indoors after my child has gone to school, and I can cry and wipe my tears after studying. And on days that I have money, you’ll see me smiling,” she revealed.

Still, she remains determined to give her daughter a better future.

“The man I was with left after we had a baby. I’ve decided to give my child the best because I don’t want her to go through the struggles I faced,” she said.

Though abandoned during one of the most difficult periods of her life, Priscilla Addai says motherhood has given her a renewed sense of purpose and determination.

Balancing education, parenting, and survival, she remains focused on creating a better future for her daughter while refusing to let her painful experiences define her journey. For Priscilla, every struggle is a motivation to succeed against the odds.
