The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has appointed seasoned public administrator and Former Presidential Staffer, Emmanuel Kwame Agyemang (Daakyehene), to serve on two of the party’s key policy committees: the Energy Policy Committee and the Local Government and Decentralization Policy Committee.
The appointments, approved by the party’s National Council and National Executive Committee (NEC), are widely seen as a recognition of Mr. Agyemang’s years of dedicated service, leadership, competence, and unwavering commitment to the party and national development.
Political observers and party faithful have described the appointments as a testament to his growing influence within policy, governance, and public administration circles.
Mr. Agyemang has built an impressive record of service spanning student leadership, political administration, policy research, governance, and international engagement. Over the years, he has earned a reputation as a hardworking, dependable, and results-oriented professional who consistently delivers on assignments entrusted to him.
His journey began at the University of Ghana, where he distinguished himself as an active student leader. He served in several leadership capacities, including Vice President of the Ashanti Students Union, Chairman of the Publicity Committee of Akuafo Hall, Director of the Programmes and Projects Committee of the University of Ghana SRC, Information and International Relations Secretary of the University Students’ Association of Ghana (USAG), and later Secretary of the Sponsorship Committee of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS). These early leadership experiences laid the foundation for a career dedicated to public service and nation-building.
Following his graduation from the University of Ghana with a degree in English and Political Science and subsequently a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Ghana Business School, Mr. Agyemang joined the Political Office of the President (Number 16), where he steadily rose through the ranks.
Since 2017, he has played critical roles in political research, stakeholder engagement, campaign operations, monitoring and evaluation, policy support, and strategic administration. His dedication and effectiveness saw him rise to become a Presidential Staffer and Political Office Administrator under the Office of the Chief of Staff.
During the 2024 general elections, he was entrusted with the responsibility of serving as Director in charge of Operations and Logistics for the Office of the Chief of Staff, a role that demanded exceptional organisational, strategic, and leadership skills.
Beyond national politics, Mr. Agyemang has also represented Ghana on the international stage. In 2023, he participated in the South-South Cooperation Conference for Developing Countries in Beijing, China, as a representative from the Office of the President, contributing to discussions on development cooperation, governance, and international partnerships among countries of the Global South. He further expanded his international engagement in 2025 when he participated in the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas, United States, one of the world’s premier energy conferences, where industry leaders, policymakers, researchers, and innovators convened to explore emerging trends, technological advancements, and sustainable solutions within the global energy sector. These international experiences have enriched his understanding of global development, public policy, energy governance, and international cooperation, further strengthening his contributions to national policy and public service.
His commitment to diplomacy and leadership development continues through his role as Director of Communications for Future Leaders Model United Nations (FLMUN) Ghana, where he mentors and inspires young people to engage in diplomacy, governance, public policy, and international affairs.
Party insiders believe his appointments to the Energy Policy Committee and the Local Government and Decentralization Policy Committee are particularly fitting, given his extensive experience in governance, public administration, stakeholder management, policy research, and grassroots political engagement.
The Energy Policy Committee is expected to play a critical role in reviewing government policies and developments within Ghana’s energy sector, providing constructive policy alternatives, and developing innovative proposals that address the country’s energy challenges. The committee will contribute to shaping the NPP’s vision for energy security, affordability, sustainability, and sector efficiency while offering practical solutions to emerging issues affecting households, businesses, and the broader economy.
Similarly, the Local Government and Decentralization Policy Committee will be responsible for assessing the effectiveness of current government policies and programmes relating to local governance and decentralization, while developing alternative policy proposals aimed at strengthening local government institutions, improving service delivery, enhancing accountability, promoting grassroots participation, and deepening democratic governance. The committee’s work will help position the party as a credible source of policy innovation and practical solutions to challenges confronting local authorities and communities across the country.
Colleagues who have worked closely with Daakyehene as he affectionately called describe him as a loyal party member whose commitment to the ideals and values of the NPP has remained steadfast throughout the years. They point to his work ethic, strategic thinking, and ability to build relationships across different levels of the party as qualities that have distinguished him among his peers.
For many within the party, the appointments represent not only recognition of past contributions but also confidence in his ability to contribute meaningfully to the development of policy solutions that will shape Ghana’s future.
As the NPP intensifies preparations toward its policy development agenda and future electoral engagements, Emmanuel Kwame Agyemang’s inclusion on two strategic policy committees signals the party’s desire to leverage experienced, competent, and committed professionals capable of translating ideas into impactful policies.
For the young man who rose through student leadership, public service, and national governance, the latest appointments mark yet another significant milestone in a career defined by service, loyalty, hard work, and an enduring commitment to leadership and national development.
