Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, is calling on President John Dramani Mahama to come to the aid of residents in the three Amenfi districts in the Western region whose homes have been submerged by floods.
In a circular issued by the lawmaker on Monday, June 22, 2026, she said over 1,500 households have been displaced, with roads currently impassable, while businesses have been shuttered.
“Parents cry as children sleep in the open. Lives are lost; and the weight of despair is overwhelming,” Madam Cudjoe said in her statement.
While extending gratitude to the Managing Director of Samartex Timber and Plywood, Dr. Richard Kweku Duah Nsenkyire, for his support to the residents so far, the MP called on the central government to come to their aid in these hard times.
“We humbly call upon President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Naana Jane, and all government ministries the Ministry of Environment, Lands and Natural Resources, Defence, Education, and all others to urgently turn their attention to Samreboi and the entire Wassa area.
“We need roads cleared, food supplies, medical assistance, and a coordinated plan to save lives and rebuild,” she indicated.
Madam Cudjoe stressed on the need for the entire nation to be there for each other in times of distress, calling on other benevolent citizens and philanthropists to come to the aid of the Amenfi residents.

Dear Fellow Ghanaians,
We stand together today, brokenhearted, as we witness a humanitarian catastrophe in Samreboi and the entire Amenfi West, Amenfi Central, and Amenfi East districts in Ghana’s Western Region. The relentless rain has swallowed homes, leaving families without shelter, food, or hope. More than 1,500 households are now displaced; roads are impassable; businesses are shuttered. Parents cry as children sleep in the open. Lives are lost; and the weight of despair is overwhelming.
We extend immeasurable thanks to Dr. Richard Kweku Duah Nsenkyire, Managing Director of Samartex Timber and Plywood, for his selfless leadership. Yet, even his courage cannot stand alone. We humbly call upon President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Naana Jane, and all government ministries the Ministry of Environment, Lands and Natural Resources, Defense, Education, and all others to urgently turn their attention to Samreboi and the entire Wassa area. We need roads cleared, food supplies, medical assistance, and a coordinated plan to save lives and rebuild.
We, as a nation, must stand for each other. This is not just Samreboi’s fight it is Ghana’s fight. We beg the president, the ministries, and every citizen to come to our aid. Our children, our families, and our future depend on your swift, compassionate action.
