The Western Region’s representative on the Council of State, Maxwell Boakye, has donated relief items to families affected by the recent floods that devastated parts of Samreboi, offering hope and support to residents struggling to recover from the disaster.

The gesture comes in the wake of torrential rains that inundated homes, displaced families, disrupted businesses and left many residents counting their losses. The flooding is part of a broader pattern of weather-related incidents that have affected several communities in recent weeks as heavy rains continue to batter the country.

Describing the scenes from the affected communities as heartbreaking, Mr Maxwell Boakye said the suffering endured by victims demanded not only sympathy but practical support.

“The recent floods that have ravaged our communities have left a deep mark on all of us. Seeing families displaced, homes submerged, businesses destroyed and livelihoods disrupted is truly heartbreaking,” he said in a statement copied to ConnectNews.

He noted that while material donations alone may not erase the pain and uncertainty confronting victims, they represent a commitment to stand with affected families during one of the most difficult periods in their lives.

“As part of my commitment to stand with the people of Samreboi during this difficult period, I have donated relief items to support affected families and provide some measure of comfort to those facing hardship. This is not merely a donation; it is a symbol of solidarity, compassion and our collective determination to help our brothers and sisters rebuild their lives.”

The Council of State member also praised residents for their resilience and unity in the face of adversity, saying their determination to persevere despite the devastation offers hope for the community’s recovery.

“I have been deeply inspired by the courage, resilience and unity displayed by the people of Samreboi despite these challenging circumstances. Your strength in the face of adversity reminds us that even in our darkest moments, hope endures.”

Beyond the immediate relief effort, Maxwell Boakye called on government agencies, businesses, faith-based organisations and philanthropists to support ongoing humanitarian interventions in the affected communities. He stressed that rebuilding lives and restoring normalcy would require a collective effort and urged all stakeholders to contribute to ensuring that vulnerable families are not left behind.

“Together, we can help restore hope, rebuild communities and ensure that no family is left behind,” he said.

He further encouraged victims to remain hopeful despite the hardship, assuring them that the community and the nation stand with them in their recovery journey.

“To every affected resident, please remain strong and hopeful. Better days lie ahead,” he said, while offering prayers for God’s protection, comfort and guidance for all families impacted by the floods.

The donation has been welcomed by residents as efforts continue to assess the extent of damage caused by the flooding and mobilise support for affected households.
