Residents of Sayerano in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region have alleged that three people were killed during a police operation targeting suspected illicit drug dealers in the community.
According to residents, the incident occurred when police officers reportedly entered the area to arrest individuals believed to be involved in the sale of illicit drugs, including tramadol.
Eyewitnesses claim that some of the suspects attempted to flee upon seeing the officers. Residents further allege that the police opened fire during the pursuit, resulting in the deaths of four individuals.
One other person is also reported to have sustained gunshot wounds and is currently in critical condition receiving treatment.
The incident has sparked tension and grief within the community, with residents and relatives of the victims calling for an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
