A retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice William Atuguba, has questioned why the Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has not been appointed as Minister yet.
Justice Atuguba described Zanetor as “a woman of principle, of dedication and integrity”, emphasising that she should have be given a ministerial role in the Mahama administration.
He added that she is a type of politician whose leadership and conducts must be emulated by others.
He made the statement at a memorial lecture to honour the first Speaker of the Fourth Republic Parliament, Justice D.F. Annan on Thursday, July 16, 2026.
“Somebody like Zanetor Rawlings, she is not a politician. She is a woman who of the people, I have been following her activities. I have never spoken to her, I have never met her but I am convinced that that is the kind of politician people should aspire to be,” he stated.
He continued: “Up till now, that why I don’t get involved in politics. I don’t know why she is not yet a Minister. I hope by saying that I have not destroyed her chances.”
“Why not? Such a woman of principle, of dedication, of integrity Why not?” Justice Atuguba questioned.
The Legislator’s name has come up as the next substantive Defence Minister after the role was rendered vacant.
Although it is not yet official, some members of the National Democratic Congress are positive about Dr. Zanetor’s appointment as a Minister.
