Kingsley Atta has been elected Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bantama Constituency after defeating the incumbent Chairman, Fiifi Mensah, by four votes in the party’s 2026 constituency executive elections, held on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
Atta polled 570 votes against Mensah’s 566 votes in a closely contested election held at the Centre for National Culture –Dwaberem –in Kumasi.
A total of 1,286 delegates were registered for the election, which was conducted peacefully and successfully.
Vincent Amoabeng won the First Vice Chairman position with 867 votes, defeating Michael Antwi, who obtained 268 votes.
For the Second Vice Chairman position, Frank Caleb Boateng emerged victorious with 794 votes, while Kwame Adu polled 339 votes.
Kwadwo Adu was elected Deputy Secretary after securing 688 votes, against Samuel Osei’s 450 votes.
Vivian Arthur emerged as Treasurer with 738 votes, defeating Rachel Ingrid, who obtained 397 votes.
In the Organiser contest, Eric Mensah secured 644 votes, while George Acheampong obtained 16 votes.
Nana Kwabena Boakye Danquah Shadoff won the Youth Organiser position with 840 votes, defeating Solomon Kwame Agyapong, who polled 298 votes.
For Communication Officer, Kingsford Addai secured 695 votes. Emmanuel Nsafoah and Kennedy Oduro Boadi obtained 213 and 227 votes, respectively.
The Women Organiser position was won by Josephine Ama Pomaa, who polled 572 votes against Salomey Addae’s 563 votes.
The results were certified by the Presiding Officer, Stella Sarpong, who declared that the results recorded constituted a true and accurate account of the ballots cast at the polling station.
The newly elected Chairman, Kingsley Atta, thanked Almighty God for the victory and expressed his appreciation to the delegates for the confidence reposed in him.
He said unity would be his top priority, stressing that bringing members together would be crucial to strengthening the party and positioning the NPP to win the 2028 general election.
Mr Atta commended the outgoing Chairman, Fiifi Mensah, for what he described as maturity in accepting the outcome of the election.
He urged the candidates who lost their respective contests not to withdraw from party activities but to join the new executives in building a stronger party.
“Though you have lost the election, do not go and sit down. Let us all come together to work for the party,” he urged.
Mr Atta said the election was over and that the party’s attention should now turn to strengthening its grassroots structures, promoting unity and working towards victory in 2028.
For his part, the outgoing Chairman, Fiifi Mensah, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the delegates for their support during his tenure.
He congratulated the newly elected executives and called on both successful and unsuccessful aspirants to put the contest behind them and work together for the unity and progress of the party.
Mr Mensah appealed to the party members to remain united and work tirelessly towards securing victory for the NPP in the 2028 general election.
The Member of Parliament for Bantama, Francis Asenso-Boakye, described the election as a demonstration of democracy and the party’s commitment to internal democratic processes.
He congratulated the newly elected executives and expressed his readiness to work with them to advance the interests of the Bantama Constituency and the NPP.
Asenso-Boakye said he believed the new executives could build on the work of the previous administration and continue what he described as the good work started under them.
