The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has fined the Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC), and Purpleline Solutions Limited a combined three hundred and sixty thousand Ghana cedis (GHC360,000) for cybersecurity non-compliance.
The Authority says the ORC failed to comply with two directives requiring it to engage a Tier One licensed Cybersecurity Service Provider to strengthen the security of its Critical Information Infrastructure.
According to the CSA in a press release dated August 12, the ORC, instead, ” engaged Purpleline Solutions Limited, which was not licensed by the Authority to provide cybersecurity services.”
The ORC has therefore been fined two hundred and forty thousand Ghana cedis, representing ten thousand penalty units for each of the two instances of non-compliance.
The CSA has also fined Purpleline Solutions Limited one hundred and twenty thousand Ghana cedis for providing cybersecurity services without the required licence.
The Authority says “Purpleline only applied for a licence on July 15, after it had already been engaged by the ORC.”
