The Ghana Football Association (GFA) says it remains committed to securing more commercial opportunities for clubs participating in the Ghana Premier League as efforts continue to identify a suitable headline sponsor for the competition.
GFA Vice President Mark Addo, speaking to the media after the 32nd GFA Congress in Prampram on Thursday, August 20, acknowledged that the league currently does not have a headline sponsor but stressed that several commercial initiatives are already providing significant benefits to participating clubs.
He disclosed that each Ghana Premier League club is receiving approximately GH¢1 million before the commencement of the league, a development he described as unprecedented.
Mark Addo also highlighted the progress being made in the area of television production and media rights, noting that the GFA produced about 68 live matches last season, in addition to several delayed broadcasts.
According to him, the Association’s marketing department continues to work behind the scenes to attract more sponsors and commercial partners who can add value to the league.
He explained that the GFA is focused on securing the right sponsor and the right commercial fit rather than rushing into an agreement simply to have a headline sponsor.
The GFA Vice President further revealed that ongoing discussions concerning media rights and partnerships with other television stations are already generating substantial value for the clubs.
He assured stakeholders that negotiations for a headline sponsor remain active and that the GFA will continue working towards securing a partner capable of enhancing the financial and commercial value of the Ghana Premier League.
Mark Addo described the GPL as the GFA’s “best product” and maintained that the Association’s priority is to ensure the league continues to grow while clubs enjoy greater commercial benefits.
