The board of the National Sports Authority (NSA) has been dissolved by President John Dramani Mahama with immediate effect.
This was contained in a government communication issued by the Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on Wednesday, September 2.
The Authority is among nine state institutions whose boards were dissolved.
Among these are the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST).
The decision follows the 2025 State Ownership Report released by the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) a few days ago.
“Relevant sector ministers have been directed to take all necessary steps, in accordance with the applicable laws and governing instruments, to give effect to the dissolution of these boards,” Mr Kwakye Ofosu stated.
“The affected boards will be reconstituted in due course.”
This development for the NSA, headed by Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, also comes amid concerns about the state of pitches of most national stadia.
