Police have arrested more than 10 students in connection with the clashes between Okuapeman Senior High School and Mount Sinai Senior High School in the Eastern region.
The clashes happened in the early hours of Wednesday, September 2, 2026, leading to the burning and destruction of structures on both campuses.
Eastern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Joseph Owusu-Bempah, who confirmed the arrests on Citi FM on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, said more arrests will follow.
“We have apprehended them. And there are more,” he said.
He said some of the students fled when police arrived but they will still be arrested. Police are compiling a full list of all students involved in the mayhem.
DCOP Owusu-Bempah also revealed that some teachers may have incited the students and their names are also on the list of those to be arrested.
“We have the names of the teachers. They have nowhere to go. At the appropriate time, we will arrest all of them, and their names will be published,” he disclosed.
He assured that everyone involved will face the law and cautioned against any interference in police investigations.
Meanwhile, six students of Okuapeman SHS were injured, with the Headmaster saying four of them have been treated and discharged, while two are still on admission. Police say investigations are ongoing to establish what triggered the clashes.
