In the last 24 hours, a memo purporting to have emerged from the Minority Caucus in Parliament has reached the public domain.
The content of the said memo indicates that the Deputy Minority Leader, Patricia Appiagyei has returned an amount of GHC700,000 allegedly given to her and other members of the Appointments Committee by the Majority Chief whip, Nelson-Rockson Dafeamekpor in relation to the recent vetting of some Ministerial nominees and nominees to the Supreme Court.
However, the Minority Caucus has denied any knowledge of the memo, stressing that it was not written by the Deputy Minority Leader.
Second Deputy Minority Whip, Jerry Ahmed Shaib in an interview with TV3 on Friday, September 4, 2026 said there is “no truth whatsoever” in the allegation which is contained in the purported memo.
“There is no truth whatsoever in that story. I have spoken particularly to my Deputy Minority Leader who has been very upset with the seeming whatever is going round. She doesn’t even understand it and she is very upset,” Jerry Ahmed Shaib said.
But here is the twist and another side to the whole issue. Jerry Ahmed had earlier told TV3 that the Deputy Minority Leader did not sign the memo.
He explained that after his interactions with the Deputy Minority Leader, she indicated she has no knowledge about the content of the memo and has never written such.
In this article, an earlier document from Parliament which has the original signature of the Deputy Minority Leader is being juxtaposed to the ‘fake’ signature on the circulating memo.
The intention of this write-up is not to categorically state that the signatures are similar, but to leave such conclusion to Ghanaians to make a decision on whether or not the signatures on both documents are same.
Bear in mind that there is a high possibility as well, that this signature could be super imposed or faked on the memo.
Below is an image of the two documents; the original one signed by Patricia Appiagyei in July 2025 and the now characterized fake document bearing the purported signature of the Asokwa MP.
After a careful look at both signatures on these documents, it leaves the question; Is this a concrete reason to say this document is from Patricia Appiagyei or not?
